Moon

Cloning

The assignment for this lab was to remove an object with either the Clone Stamp Tool or Content Aware Fill. I went with the simple Clone Stamp Tool. The specific requirement for this lab was to sharpen the final image.

I chose an image of a small UFO in front of the moon because it would be easy to remove a flying object in a clear sky. I also chose a photo with noise (grain) so it was clear I used the Clone Stamp Tool in Photoshop and not just an erase and bucket fill in Paint.

Detailed Steps
  1. Open the original image file.
  2. Ctrl++ to zoom in to the UFO.
  3. Press S for the Clone Stamp Tool.
  4. Alt+click an empty area around the UFO. Click to paint over the UFO with the cloned empty space.
  5. In the top bar: Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen
  6. In the top bar: Image > Image Size
  7. Keep Width/Height locked. Change units to pixels. Change Height to 800 px.
  8. Shift+Ctrl+S to Save As a Photoshop file (.psd).
  9. In the top bar: File > Export > Export As
  10. Change the format to JPG. Click Export.
