Decoration Jar

To preserve the flowers, you will want a jar made of glass. You can choose decorative jars like apothecary jars or mason jars. Make sure the glass is transparent to put the focus on the flower arrangement. If you have reusable jam or jelly jars, you can use those, too! A snow globe is another cute idea to place preserved flowers.

A classic ginger jar can be the perfect setting for a floral arrangement, especially with its bright colors.

A mason vase jar can be decorated by paint or tape. Thin and thick rings work well together and enable you to create a custom look for your mason jar vases.

Putting a slender raffia bow for a mason jar can impress your visitor with its simplicity yet beautiful.

You can also use a cute country burlap and lace mason jar vase for flowers arrangment, giving a country vibe for your house.

Mason jar wrapped snugly in a piece of colored fabric full of texture, the trio of buttons that secure it adds so much character and charm.

How to take care

There are a few ways to preserve the flowers:

Step 1: Cut Flowers:

Trim flowers once they’re home; a 45-degree angle is best. Use a clean vase, because the worst enemy of fresh flowers is bacteria. Keep flowers out of direct sunlight; the cooler and darker the room, the longer your flowers will last.

Step 2: Keep in jar

Plain water: Flower strong through Day 3, shriveled by Day 4 or 5

Vinegar and sugar: Flowers strong through Day 3. By Day 5, flowers were curled on the edges and ready for compost, but still relatively intact. Similar results to plain water.

Conventional flower food: Flowers lasted through Day 3, strong stem through Day 5. In one trial, the flower curled completely by Day 2.

Bleach: Strong stem through Day 5. In one trial the flower stayed healthy through Day 4, in another it was shriveled by Day 2. Most inconsistent results.

Aspirin: Flower held strong through Day 3 across all three trials, but flopped by Day 5. In each case, the stem turned gray.

Penny: Lasted well through Day 3 in each trial. Stem still strong by Day 5, but flower curled. Similar results to plain water.
