Species Habitat Fishing Method
Largemouth bass Found in freshwater. Likes to stay near underwater structure and vegetation Largemouth bass are usually fished for using lures but can also be caught on live bait.
Crappie These fish are usually found in larger bodies of water and are a freshwater species. A popular method to catch crappie is called jigging which involves using a weighted hook called a jighead. Artificial or live bait is placed on the hook and the bait is dropped down to a certain depth.
Common Carp These fish are freshwater and like to stay near vegetation. Carp are very finnicky so they require a stealthy presentation. Dough or corn is usually put on a small hook as the bait.
Bluegill Bluegill like to stay in schools in shallower water. These fish are very aggressive which makes them easy to catch. The most common baits to use are worms and corn.
Catfish Catfish like to stay in deeper water and occasionally come to shallower areas at night to hunt. Bottom fishing is a method used to catch catfish. This method requires a heavy weight to reach the bottom and patience while waiting for a bite. A commonly used bait is live bluegill.
