Dtrotter3's Favorite Summer Activities

About

This summer has been quite different from past summers before 2020. Due to the changes of COVID-19, the way people live their summer vacations have been more challenging. COVID-19 mandates has had an affect on the already annoying things we go through during the summer, like going to the airport or eating at your favorite resteraunt. However, I've managed to have an amazing summer while staying safe and having fun!

This "article" will go over some of my favorite summer activites I've did during the summer of 2022. Some of these will include some classic activites you would probably do around this time. I hope by the end of this article, you would have found some activites that may give you an insite on what you would like to do next summer!

Swimming Pools

Swimming at your local (or private) pool is a great way to stay active in the sun while staying cool. There's fun things you can do at pools like, playing water sports, playing with water guns, or peforming pool tricks. Usually when I'm at the pool, you'll see me relaxing in the shallow end, or doing swim races with friends. Whenever I go swimming it's usually for a party or a gathering of some sort. Examples of this could be for a cookout, a birthday party, graduation party, for the 4th of July, etc. In this case, it'll usually involve food and beverages which is always a big plus for whenever you want to take a break from swimming. Where I live, I have my own private pool at my house. Here, I can invite friends and relatives if I so choose. I also live by a community pool! If I would like a bigger space to swim, I could use their water slides, or invite a large crowd. However I have a few concerning occurances with pools. First off, pools leave you with that chlorine stentch that'll take ages to get out of your clothes. In my case, it seems as if I always leave the pool with an injury wether I scrape myself, pull a muscle, or get water in my eyes (and sometimes in my ears)

I would rate this activity an 8.5/10. Definitly a staple activity for the summer. If you want to do something fun, relaxing, or everything in between on a hot day with friends or family, you should go to the pool!

The Beach

The beach is a wonderful place to go to over the summer. There are plenty of activites to do! My personal favorite are beach volleyball, snorkeling, and jet skiing. I particularly enjoy beaches in the Carribean because the water is usually clearer. A couple of things I don't enjoy about beaches is that you'll always get sandy, you could get sunburnt, and most beaches are usually crowded.

Turks & Caicos

I would rate this activity a 7.5/10. (Too sandy!)

St. Lucia

Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is probably one of the best holidays around the summer since there are cools things you get to expereince. Even though I've celebrated the 4th almost every year, it almost never gets old (unless you want to miss out on purpose). Some of my favortie things to do around this time are to visit festivals, check out firework shows, go to cookouts, or just light fireworks with friends. The only problem I have with the Fourth is that fireworks will go off all throughout the night even when you want to sleep.

4th of July

I would rate this activity an 8/10.

Traveling

Going on vacation is what I typically do over the summer. My favorite destination would definitely be Alaska because of its nature. Traveling is a great way for me to learn something new. Speaking of new, I enjoy trying new foods, and engaging in different cultures. I believe everyone should travel to a new place yearly whether it's in or out of the country. Even road trips can be interesting too! A couple of things I don't while traveling are the airport lines, forgetting luggage/supplies, and getting sick.

Egypt

I would rate this activity an 9/10.
